Join local leaders, employers and advocates for a screening of “Being Free,” a groundbreaking documentary from Roadtrip Nation that follows three formerly incarcerated Americans as they transition back into their communities and the workforce.
Guests will hear opening remarks from Dr. Kendall Taylor of Salute 1st, and the screening will be followed by a discussion among business and community leaders from across Charlotte, including Patrice Funderburg of the Center for Community Transitions, Erik Ortega of Mecklenburg County’s Department of Community Resources, Cynthia Bailey of Atrium Health, Traletta Banks of Another Level Staffing, and Ken Oliver of Checkr.
Mary C. Curtis, a renowned journalist and podcast host at Roll Call and Slate, will moderate the discussion.
Following the panel discussion, we will host a resource fair for formerly incarcerated individuals returning to the workforce. Participating organizations include Mecklenburg County Re-Entry Services & Council, the Center for Community Transitions, the Center for Employment Opportunities, Atrium Health, Goodwill, the Urban League, Charlotte Community Health Clinic, Another Level Staffing LLC, and Common Wealth Charlotte.
