Participate in a 30-minute interactive tour of the house and grounds of Robert and Peggy Davidson. The Holly Bend house was constructed between 1795-1800 and represents the lifestyle of Mecklenburg County’s wealthy planter class at that time. In addition to being wealthy planters, the Davidsons were slave owners. The surrounding property is believed to hold remnants of quarters to house enslaved workers, in addition to other outbuildings. Historians believe that more than 100 individuals were enslaved at the Holly Bend House. This tour will focus on honoring the memory of those enslaved at Holly Bend and will also cover the history of the house after the Davidson family sold the property in 1871. Tour will meet at 3701 Neck Road in Huntersville. Parking is across the street. Tours take place Rain or Shine at noon and at 1pm.
