Levine Museum of the New South is proud to host a live recording of their award-winning Our New South podcast featuring Doug Jones, former U.S. Senator from Alabama.
From the courtroom to the Capitol, Jones has spent his career standing up for justice and bridging divides. As the federal prosecutor who brought long-overdue accountability to the Ku Klux Klan members responsible for the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing, and later as a senator representing Alabama, Jones has remained guided by integrity, empathy, and a deep belief in doing what’s right.
In 2017, he shocked the political establishment by winning a special election to fill a U.S. Senate seat in Alabama — the first Democrat to do so in 25 years in the state.
While serving as U.S. Attorney, Jones successfully prosecuted two of the four men responsible for the 1963 bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church, bringing long awaited-justice nearly 40 years after the horrific attack that killed four young girls.
Jones brings his unique lived experience in the South to the live Feb. 11 conversation with journalist Blackistone and historian Greene.
In this special live episode, Jones will reflect on his journey and share what the New South means to him and the future he envisions for the region.
